This past week marked a milestone for the WZFS Upper School boys as they participated in their first-ever basketball tournament representing the school. Traditionally, WZFS has competed in soccer and volleyball, but the boys were eager to take on a new challenge. Over the course of four weeks, they dedicated themselves to mastering the fundamentals of basketball, including learning the rules, offensive and defensive sets, and inbound plays.

This week, our hearts were filled with joy and gratitude as the WZFS community came together for a spectacular event—"A Christmas Symphony"—our annual Christmas concert. The concert featured breathtaking performances by the WZFS Orchestra and our primary choir, showcasing the talent, hard work, and dedication of our bobaes and staff.

Weihai is truly a gem along China’s eastern coast, offering all four seasons in their full glory. As a coastal city, it’s not every day you hear about snowfall blanketing sandy beaches, but this winter, Weihai treated us to a spectacular sight. The shimmering white snow against the gentle waves was breathtaking—a perfect reminder of Weihai’s unique beauty and charm.

Last Friday, the WZFS campus buzzed with excitement and curiosity as we hosted the 13th Annual Science Fair. This year’s event was nothing short of extraordinary, showcasing the remarkable creativity, scientific knowledge, and ingenuity of our middle and high school bobaes.

This week, we are thrilled to host the 13th Annual WZFS Science Fair, with the theme: Sustainable Scientific Solutions for a Better Community. Our middle school and high school bobaes have been diligently preparing for months, and we couldn't be prouder of their hard work and creativity!

Over the past two weekends, our WZIS high school volleyball teams have made us incredibly proud. Competing first in Yantai, both our boys' and girls' teams displayed grit and determination. The girls finished strong, securing a well-earned 3rd place, while the boys advanced even further, finishing as tournament runners-up. It was a thrilling start to what has become a memorable couple of weekends for our bobaes.

At WZIS, the spirit of adventure filled the halls as our primary students celebrated “Super Hero Day!” Dressed as their favorite superheroes, sports figures, and imaginative characters, the youngest members of our school were on a mission—not to save the world this time, but to collect an impressive stash of candy from the upper school classrooms.

Today, nearly every bobae and teacher at WZIS stepped away from the classroom and into the wonders of Weihai for an unforgettable field trip day! After finishing their midterms on Thursday, the kids were more than ready for a break—and WZIS wanted to make sure they got the perfect mix of fun, adventure, and discovery. A tremendous amount of logistical planning and coordination went into making these trips possible, but the smiles and laughter made every bit of effort worthwhile.

Today marks the start of midterm exams at WZIS, and the atmosphere on campus has shifted as all of our bobaes dive into their studies. Over the past week, students have been diligently preparing, filling every spare moment with reviewing notes, working on practice problems, and forming study groups. Their dedication has been truly impressive to witness, and it all came together today as they entered the exam room.

The highly anticipated QISN tournament has come to an end, and although the results didn’t go our way, our students left everything on the field. The girls’ team, despite losing both of their games, played with incredible heart and determination, showcasing the skills and spirit that make WZIS proud. Their effort was unmatched, and they truly embodied what it means to give your all.

Today marks an exciting milestone for a group of our middle school students as they head off to Qingdao to compete in the highly anticipated Qingdao International Schools Network (QISN) tournament. This annual event brings together schools from across the region, and our students are thrilled to be representing WZIS in the football (soccer) competition. Their enthusiasm has been building all week, and after putting in countless hours of practice, they are more than ready to take the field.

After being postponed due to weather, Sports Day finally arrived under clear skies and perfect conditions. Our houses—Hawks, Moose, and Wolves—all came together, eager to give their best in an exciting lineup of activities that showcased both skill and spirit.

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting the Orange Burger Truck at WZIS, treating our dedicated faculty, staff, and their families to some mouthwatering cheeseburgers! There was an incredible sense of excitement as everyone gathered for dinner. Known for their craft cheeseburgers, the Orange Burger Truck is a local favorite, and while many teachers had heard the buzz about these burgers, it was their first time getting a taste. And this time, we brought the burgers right to them.

Today, WZFS hosted an Education With Parents (EWP) seminar, bringing together parents of our students for an inspiring session on personal growth and emotional well-being. Our guest speaker, Coach Jin Chung, shared valuable insights, drawing on his extensive experience in personal development and family dynamics. Known for his compassionate approach, Coach Chung focuses on helping individuals and families cultivate emotional resilience, empathy, and self-awareness.

This semester, we are excited to launch Operation Pen Pal at WZIS! As part of this initiative, 16 of our primary bobaes will have the unique opportunity to connect with penpals from different parts of the globe. Our students will exchange letters with children from Mexico, the USA, and Germany, creating an exciting cultural exchange that will expand their horizons and introduce them to new perspectives.

At Weihai Zhongshi International School (WZIS), we hold both academic achievement and character development in the highest regard. Our assemblies and ceremonies are not only a platform to celebrate academic excellence but also an opportunity to recognize students—our “bobaes”—who embody our core values: Responsibility, Respect, Wisdom, Self-Expression, and Holistic Education. Throughout the year, faculty and staff nominate students who consistently demonstrate these values. Those honored are awarded certificates and enjoy a free smoothie from our popular school café—a small but meaningful gesture of appreciation for their efforts.

As we come together to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, known as Chuseok in Korea, we wish all our WZIS families a time of joy, reflection, and togetherness. Whether you're enjoying mooncakes under the full moon or sharing a traditional meal with loved ones, this holiday is a wonderful reminder of the importance of family and gratitude.

It’s another productive Thursday here at WZIS, and the students are in full swing, moving from one class to the next with the usual mix of focus and enthusiasm. Whether it’s math, science, or English, today’s classes are keeping everyone on their toes, but you can feel a growing sense of excitement in the air as we approach a much-anticipated long weekend.

Yesterday, our middle school students at Weihai Zhongshi International School (WZIS) experienced an exciting day as we launched a series of new student clubs. These clubs, including Cooking, Arts and Crafts, Board Games, Music, and Band, were designed to give students the opportunity to explore new interests and skills while having fun with their classmates.

Today at WZIS, we celebrated Appreciation Day with an outpouring of gratitude from our wonderful parents and students. From heartfelt messages to thoughtful gestures, the WZIS community came together to show appreciation for the dedication of our teachers and staff. We are deeply moved and grateful for the support that inspires us to continue providing the best for our students.
