WZIS High School Volleyball Teams Shine in Yantai and Qingdao Tournaments

Over the past two weekends, our WZIS high school volleyball teams have made us incredibly proud. Competing first in Yantai, both our boys' and girls' teams displayed grit and determination. The girls finished strong, securing a well-earned 3rd place, while the boys advanced even further, finishing as tournament runners-up. It was a thrilling start to what has become a memorable couple of weekends for our bobaes.

This past weekend, the boys traveled to Qingdao for the QISN tournament, where they continued to showcase their skill and teamwork, finishing in 3rd place against strong competition. Meanwhile, the girls were awarded the highly coveted sportsmanship trophy—a true honor that reflects not only their skills on the court but, even more so, the exceptional attitude and character they demonstrated throughout the tournament. In many ways, this trophy means more than any first-place finish, as it stands as a testament to the spirit and integrity they brought to the game.

Despite limited practice time together, both teams came together, playing as though they’d been training for months. Watching them connect, compete, and rise to the occasion as a small school is always inspiring. It’s a reminder of the strength of our community and the commitment these students bring to everything they do.

One of the most heartwarming moments was seeing our teams voluntarily help clean up after the tournament ended. As our bobaes started tidying the area, other teams were inspired to join, turning cleanup into a shared effort. It was a beautiful display of servant leadership, embodying our core values of leading by serving others and creating positive ripples that go far beyond the volleyball court.

A special thank you to our dedicated coaches and teacher volunteers who joined the teams on these trips, guiding, supporting, and cheering on our students every step of the way. Your commitment to our students' growth both on and off the court makes a world of difference, and we’re grateful for all that you do.

Congratulations to our teams for their performances, their character, and the pride they bring to WZIS. We’re so proud of each of you!
